SSC CGL 2019 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The SSC CGL exam pattern is the same as the previous year, check below the complete details.

SSC CGL 2019 Exam Pattern

There are three tiers in the CGL exams

  • Tier I: Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type).
  • Tier II: Main Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type).
  • Tier III: Pen & paper-based exam on descriptive paper on English/Hindi(Writing of Essay, Precis, Letter, Application etc.).
  • Tier IV: computer skill test.

Tier I: Written Examination Pattern

  • Tier –I of the Combined Graduate level Examination would be common for all categories of posts and will be held in one session.
  • If and wherever necessary, the examination may be held in 2(two) shifts for different batches of candidates.
  • Questions will be of Objective Multiple Type Choice. The questions will be set in Hindi/English in respect of Parts A, B, and C.

Tier III: descriptive paper

Written Skill Test Marks- 100 60 minutes (80 minutes for VH)

Tier IV: computer skill test

Set of Skill Test (Data Entry Speed Test, Computer Proficiency Test)

The penalty of the Wrong Answer: There is a negative marking of 0.25 Marks for each wrong answer. There is no sectional cut off. No point will be deducted if the question is left blank or unattempted by a candidate.

  • Tier-I and Tier-II exam are compulsory for all posts while Tier-III is for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II and Compiler, and Tier-IV exam is for TA, CSS, MEA, and Inspector.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria – 2019

SSC CGL eligibility criteria comprise of age limit, educational qualification, and other criteria set prescribed by the SSC.

Nationality:

A candidate must be either –

  • (a) a citizen of India, or
  • (b) a subject of Nepal, or
  • (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
  • (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Statistical Investigator Grade-II Post Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with 60% aggregate in Mathematics in Class 12th
Or
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with statistics as one of the subjects in Graduation
Compiler Posts Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective Subjects
All Other Posts Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university

N.B. A candidate is required to be physically fit as per the standards of the inspector as there are some prerequisites for physical fitness for the post of Inspector (Central/State Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and sub-inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency).
